What is a League Winner?
A league winner is a fantasy player you own that contributes significantly to the success of your fantasy football championship. This is a player that puts up a high amount of points weekly or really crushes it in the championship finals for you. A league winner can be defined as a player that is the most owned on winning championship fantasy football teams. He performed so well that he anchored teams to victory and was mostly owned by winning teams. In basic terms, a league winner is an NFL player that puts up a lot of fantasy football points!

5 Fantasy Football League Winners 2022
- Derrick Henry
- Ja’Marr Chase
- Drake London
- Robert Tonyan
- Justin Herbert
Let’s dive into each one of these players and explain why they could be solid league winners for this upcoming NFL season.
1. Derrick Henry
Derrick Henry is a wrecking machine and is due for a major bounce-back fantasy football season. He is a workhorse RB that will get the volume and perform at a high level. In fact, I think he will have a record-breaking season this year when it comes to rushing yards. That is the type of ceiling we are talking about when it comes to Derrick Henry. I love this upside and I love the talent. Henry was putting up top 10 numbers amongst RBs last year in many categories including TDs and rushing yards. The man only played 8 games and was still crushing it. The NFL these days is going with more of a running back committee approach and Henry is that rare breed of smash-mouth football that we know and love. He is going to be the workhorse and I will make sure to roster here anything I can this upcoming season.
I hope and pray he stays healthy but injuries are something that can happen to any NFL player. There are no guarantees that anyone can stay healthy. All you can do is draft and start the right player in a great position to succeed. Derrick Henry is that guy that is in the best position to succeed. Love him for 2022!
2. Ja’Marr Chase
When you are looking at the WR with the most upside for this upcoming season, you have to consider and take a look at Ja’Marr Chase. You have a guy that hasn’t even peaked yet. He was putting up top 5 fantasy football WR numbers last year with only 128 targets. He has so much more ceiling ahead of him. He is a really good football player that is valued higher this year based on last year’s performance.
Compared to Kupp and Adams who had way more targets than him last year (Adams 169, Kupp 191), Chase still did remarkably. I can’t imagine what type of points he will put up this year now that the rapport is there with Burrow and him. I am excited to watch this player grow and show the world he can be the best WR in the NFL.
3. Drake London
Drake London is a rookie that was drafted by the Falcons in the 1st round of the 2022 NFL draft. What is nice about him is that he is a plug and play WR 1 on the team. The ceiling and volume are really high for Drake London this upcoming season. You are looking at a top prospect in the draft and a guy that will be relied on heavily in the passing game. Tons of upside and opportunity for this man, not to mention the fantasy football draft value.
I just did a draft in an experts league and got this man in the 6th round! You are getting a WR 1 in the 6th round with all the upside in the world. There is a boom-bust type situation but will be worth it. I will be drafting him anytime I can this season. 6’5 and 210 lbs of pure athletic ability and no WR committee. Sign me up!
4. Robert Tonyan
Not a lot of people are talking about Robert Tonyan this season. This man will be a league-winning tight-end. He finished top 4 among tight ends in PPR in 2020 and had a mediocre injury-filled 2021 season. He will be back healthy this season without Davante Adams there with the Packers. This opens up 168 targets and some will definitely be going to the reliable red-zone target Tonyan.
He is sitting 17th on the consensus rankings and is a steal in fantasy football drafts. I just got him in the 10th round in an experts league. He is being really slept on this season and has all the upside in the world.
5. Justin Herbert
Not much to say about Justin Herbert as we already know how good he is. He finished 2nd amongst QBs in fantasy football points last season and I still see a massive ceiling for the young man. Great work ethic and talent with a similar team to last year, the sky really is the limit.
His rapport will only get better with his WRs Allen and Williams, and can’t wait to see how many points he will put up this year. He has put on a few lbs of muscle as well and has been training hard in the off-season.
