- Javonte Williams
This is your non-consensus fantasy football RB list. Draft these guys with confidence at the right average draft position. Let’s dive into some detail on why these guys are on top in 2023!
1. Bijan Robinson
Bijan is my first overall pick in 2023. I love the talent and I love the upside going into the NFL fantasy 2023. He is young and the Falcons invested a 1st round pick on him. They also ran the ball over 500 times last season and he is primed to be seeing a lot of volume and be used a lot in the receiving game.
Youth and talent prevail here, and many will disagree that Bijan is the 1st overall pick in 2023 drafts. I am all in on the young man and the talent and opportunity will prevail. He is really primed to dominate this year and be the best running back in the game. Sign me up for some Bijan Robins on ALL my rosters this season.
2. Saquon Barkley
The upside and the value are there along with the talent. He will eat this year and was paid to perform. The Giants offense is settled in with Daniel Jones, and I expect Saquon to get a ton of volume this year. I also believe that he really wants to sign a mega contract and in order to do that he needs to perform at a high level this season.
3. Jonathan Taylor
When you talk about upside and talent you have to consider Jonathan Taylor. At the time of this video, you are looking at a guy whose home is in question, as he is looking to get traded from the Colts. He may end up in Miami or another team and that will impact his fantasy football value going into the 2023 season.
Wherever he ends up, look for Taylor to be the ALPHA on that team and to get at least 200-plus carries on the season. He is one of the best running backs in the game and should be currently coming off in the 2nd round of fantasy football drafts. He could literally be the best value in this year’s drafts and finish as a top RB in fantasy points. Landing spot will play a major role in this and will be excited to see where he ends up!
4. Derrick Henry
How can you keep Henry off this list? Well, you just can’t as I feel he still has a few good years left in him. Well, at least one more. He is primed for yet another 250-plus rushing attempts kind of year and should continue to be the king of the Titans.
They did draft a workhorse rookie RB in Spears and he will get his share of volume this year, but Henry is the man in Tennessee.
5. Nick Chubb
Safe and solid is what I feel with Nick Chubb. The talent and volume will be there no doubt, and he should be solid without Kareem Hunt there. I mentioned before that Deshaun Watson will be stealing his share of TDs around the goalline, but I am not too worried about it affecting Chubb too much.
He is coming off at the end of round one and is good value there. Barring any type of injury you should be getting a solid RB one with a little bit of upside based on the sheer volume he will be getting the Browns backfield.
6. Najee Harris
The real workhorse in Pittsburgh is Najee. I know people are doubting his ability because Warren emerged a little in pre-season and Harris only averages 3.8 yards per carry. If anything, the success of Jaylen Warren in pre-season should only fire up Harris to do better this season to keep his job.
Competition only motivates and maybe that is what Najee needs this year. They improved that o-line and he is all healed up with his foot injury. He will be ready to rock it this season and get a ton of volume on a young offense.
2nd round is where Harris is coming off and that is not too back when you look a the volume and talent you are getting. When it comes to him and Warren, worst case I see a 70/30 split in the favor of Najee. So draft him in the 2nd round as part of your robust RB draft strategy!
7. Jahmyr Gibbs
More rookies that could boom this year. You have to include the young and talented Jahmry Gibbs. He is young and explosive and will eat this year. He is currently sitting 14 on the consensus rankings, but he has way more upside than this.
The Lions love him enough to have drafted him in the 1st round of the 2023 NFL draft. Look for him to get a ton of work and a ton of volume and receptions this season.
I understand that Montgomery is there, but he is older and lackluster, to say the least. He will not steal all that goalline work and many people are thinking. Gibbs will be used more often than you think and will be the main man in Detriot this season at the running back position.
8. Breece Hall
They don’t call him Breece the BEAST for no reason. He is the main man in Jets territory and will easily be the RB 1. I know that Dalvin Cook is there and will kill the buzz a little bit, but the talent will rise to the top.
Before Dalvin Cook ended up in New York on an 8.6 Million dollar deal, Breece was coming off in round 2 of drafts. He has since fallen to rounds 3-4. This is good value on a guy who is the most talented at the RB position and can really be a league winner this year.
Draft him as your 3rd RB as part of a robust RB strategy, and hope Cook goes away!
9. Dameon Pierce
The true workhorse in Houston this season. Dameon Pierce is primed for a major breakout season and a ton of volume this year. Last year he played only 13 games and did a lot in that time. 903 yards on the ground and 4 TDs on a terrible offense and a rookie year is not that bad.
Look for him to step up this season get more work and produce a ton more fantasy points. The value in the draft around the 4th round is solid as well, as he only has to contend with Devin Singletary.
10. Javonte Williams
Coming off that knee injury is the only major concern here, as this really could be Javaonte Season. He is ready to go and should really build on that full 2021 campaign, where he rushed 203 times and got 4 TDs. That was his rookie year, and was a down the middle split with Melvin Gordon.
Look for him to be the main RB on an offense that is due for a major bounceback!
