Fantasy football lions are always on the lookout for those under-the-radar players who can provide unexpected value to their teams. As the 2024 season approaches, identifying sleepers is more crucial than ever. This episode of the Fantasy Football Counselor podcast will delve into the top 10 fantasy football sleepers who might not be on every manager’s radar but have the potential to make a significant impact in your league. For each player, we’ll explore recent stats, scouting reports, and discuss why they might be a valuable pick in this year’s drafts.
1. Zamir White, RB – Raiders
Recent Stats and Scouting Report: Zamir White showed flashes of potential in limited touches last season. Known for his explosive speed and ability to break tackles, White has the tools necessary to excel if given the opportunity. Last year, he averaged 4.3 yards per carry on 104 carries. He can and will be the workhorse in Vegas with no competition in that committee. He is a beast and was getting a ton of volume at the end of last season.
2024 Fantasy Value: With an expected increased workload (233 Att freed up with Jacobs gone, White could be a steal in the later rounds. His ability to convert short-yardage situations into touchdowns makes him a valuable asset, especially in leagues that reward points for such plays. I love the upside and the draft value, coming off in rounds 5-6. He is a must-draft sleeper for 2024.
2. Tyjae Spears, RB – Titans
Recent Stats and Scouting Report: Spears is a versatile back who has shown he can contribute both in the running and passing games. Last season, he accumulated over 800 yards from scrimmage and had a knack for finding the end zone, scoring three touchdowns combined. This was limited because he was behind one of the best RBs of all time, Derrick Henry. I want to highlight his agility and pass-catching ability out of the backfield. The sky is the limit as Henry’s backup!
2024 Fantasy Value: Spears’ dual-threat capabilities make him a potential sleeper in PPR leagues. If he secures a more prominent role in his team’s offense, his ability to contribute in multiple facets could make him a mid-round gem. 280 attempts have been freed up with Henry gone, so it is Spears’ time!
3. Justin Herbert, QB – Chargers
Recent Stats and Scouting Report: Despite a dip in his usual top-tier performance last season, Herbert threw only 3134 passing yards and 20 touchdowns. We can attribute the decline to a less stable offensive line and injuries among critical receivers. Herbert’s arm strength and accuracy remain beyond question.
2024 Fantasy Value: A bounce-back year seems probable for Herbert. With improvements to his offensive line and healthier receivers, he could outperform his draft position, making him a sleeper pick as your QB1. Ladd McConkey is going to eat, and we will discuss him next!
4. Ladd McConkey, WR – Chargers
Recent Stats and Scouting Report: McConkey’s will have an outstanding rookie season. His route-running precision and hands are well-regarded by scouts, who believe he has room to grow.
2024 Fantasy Value: Expected to take on a significant role in the Chargers offense this year, McConkey could see many targets, especially in the red zone. His rapport with Herbert will grow and he will establish himself and the WR1 in LA. I love Ladd, and with Keenan Allen, Ekeler, and Mike Williams gone, the sky is the limit! Ladd McConkey is a must-draft WR1 who is being slept on.
5. Keon Coleman, WR – Bills
Recent Stats and Scouting Report: Coleman is another rookie who made significant strides last season. He racked up 658 yards and 11 touchdowns on just 50 receptions in Florida state. His impressive 13.2 yards per catch indicates his big-play ability. Scouts appreciate his athleticism and competitive nature.
2024 Fantasy Value: Coleman is the clear-cut WR 1 in Buffalo. If you even call them that, his only competition is Samuel and Shakir. I am not concerned about them at all. Coleman is a monster and should be drafted in round 1 of fantasy drafts, but he is coming off as a value in round 8! Draft him on all your rosters in 2024. This is a Diggs replacement. With Gabe Davis and Diggs gone, 240 targets are freed up. I love the upside of Keon Coleman.
6. Demario Douglas, WR – Patriots
Recent Stats and Scouting Report: Douglas is a slot receiver known for his quickness and ability to evade defenders after the catch. Last season, he had over 400 yards receiving and a couple of touchdowns, but his potential was evident in games where he was targeted heavily.
2024 Fantasy Value: With an anticipated increase in snaps and targets, Douglas could emerge as a reliable weekly starter in deeper leagues. His skill set makes him particularly valuable in PPR formats. He is coming off the board after round 14 and is a free fantasy football draft pick. Consider him and rookie Polk as rookie sleeper breakouts this 2024 season!
7. Trey Benson, RB – Cardinals
Recent Stats and Scouting Report: Benson is a backfield powerhouse known for his breakaway speed and resilience. While sharing carries last season, he still managed to amass over 906 rushing yards and found the end zone fourteen times last year in college. You have to note his ability to gain yards after contact.
2024 Fantasy Value: Benson’s potential to take over as the lead back over Conner could see his fantasy stock rise significantly.
His scoring ability, especially in goal-line situations, makes him a sleeper pick in standard leagues. He is the running back to own in Arizona.
8. Kimani Vidal, RB – Chargers
Recent Stats and Scouting Report: Vidal is a tough, gritty runner who excels between the tackles. He racked up 1661 rushing yards last season as a rotational player but showed potential for much more. His coaches praise his work ethic and vision.
2024 Fantasy Value: If Vidal can carve out a larger role in the Chargers offense, his ability to churn out consistent yardage could make him a valuable addition and the starter. Gus Edwards and JK Dobbins are not good players, and he could easily take over this job. He could be a league-winning draft steal. Just stash him, and I hope he performs to his potential.
9. Romeo Doubs, WR – Packers
Recent Stats and Scouting Report: Doubs is a talented receiver who had a solid season last year with 674 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. However, his ability to make contested catches and run precise routes has caught the eye of scouts. His physicality and catch radius are his main strengths.
2024 Fantasy Value: With an expected uptick in target share and a solid offseason, Doubs is poised for a breakout. He could be a steal in the late rounds of drafts, especially for teams needing depth at receiver.
10. Ben Sinnott, TE – Commanders
Recent Stats and Scouting Report: Sinnott is an emerging tight end who showed flashes of brilliance last season. He tallied over 250 yards and a few touchdowns as a rotational player. Known for his blocking as well as receiving skills, scouts believe he has the tools to become a more integral part of his team’s passing attack.
2024 Fantasy Value: Tight ends often develop at a slower pace, making Sinnott a prime candidate for a breakout season. His ability to contribute in both the passing and blocking game could increase his snap count, leading to more fantasy points.
