All right. Today we’ve got a huge episode. We’re talking bounce back players and Tim’s online with me, I’m excited. He’s not in the studio, but he’s online, and what is going on in the background there? It looks like you’re in one of those old outhouses where people used to do their business outside.

So make sure you guys get it. All right, so let’s dive into this show here. All right. Bounce back, players. I guess our definition of what a bounce-back is is different. I consider a bit of an injury last year and their lack of production and then this year them doing well as a bounce back. Tim is thinking, “Oh, you know what? I don’t agree with that. Injuries shouldn’t count as them being down. I think it is. Durability plays a part in it, so I guess our definitions of a bounce-back is different. Tim, what do you think?
Tim:
Yeah. So I won’t look at a guy who was injured for the majority of the year, so there were some specific guys as I’m going through, I’m thinking, “Yeah, he only played four games. Of course, he’s going to bounce back. Of course, he’s going to have more fantasy points than last year.” If they did play at least eight to 10 games and I can kind of extrapolate their numbers over the full season and they look like they were still going to weigh down, then I might classify them as a bounce-back player for this year, but for the most part, I don’t look at an injured guy. I don’t want to look at an injured guy. His numbers are deceiving. I don’t call that a bounce back, I just call that a, “Hey, he’s back,” sort of thing. One guy I will throw in here that I did kind of look at a little bit was Evan Engram. He played eight games. You look at his numbers-
Tim:
You multiply them by two to make a full year. He would have killed it. He would have been a great tight end. Top three, easily. So I’m not going to say he’s a bounce back, but I’m going to say, if he’s back and he’s not injured and he plays the full year, he’s got to be on your list as one of the top tight ends.
Joseph Robert
Yeah, he’s definitely a fantasy football sleeper. Evan Engram, I mean, they’ve improved that O Line there. Daniel Jones is going to be settled in a little more this year. They did not invest in another ace wide receiver in the draft. That tells me they believe in Slayton, they believe in Shepherd, they believe in Engram. I think he’s going to eat a lot. I really like Engram. I think he’s going to be a steal in drafts when you are looking at tight end.
Tim:
Absolutely. I think he’s got to be right there. Like I say, top three finisher.
Joseph Robert
All right. I’ll go with a guy here and then I’ll save one guy for you. I know you want to get to this one guy. I know we’re thinking the same-
Tim:
No, no. You want me to talk about this guy because when you say it, you’re a bias douche. When I say it, I’m an analytical expert.
Joseph Robert
Yeah. Well, let’s hear it. So who is it? Why don’t you just go with it?
Tim:
It is Mr. David Johnson.
Joseph Robert
There. He said it.
Tim:
And he’s going to bounce back, guys. You can say that we’re biased, and, “Oh, you say this because you met him.” I don’t buy into Joe’s stuff, I don’t listen to some of the stuff Joe says. “I met him, he’s a really nice guy. He’s got a great,” … I don’t care. I just look at what I know, I look at the statistics. His year last year was horrible, and I know he was injured for some of it and he wasn’t the same when he came back, but guys, he finished 37th last year with only 94 attempts for 350 yards, two touchdowns. He can easily improve upon those numbers, no matter what. You play the full year, he’s on a new team, he’s going to be the starting running back, he has to be. Guys, he’s going to go from 37th to top 10.
Joseph Robert
You guys heard it here.
Tim:
Yeah.
Joseph Robert
It was him that said it, all right? But I agree. I agree with you. His numbers look really good.
Tim:
Yeah. I do not listen to what Joe says when it comes to running our show a lot of the time. I have my own opinion, I like to voice my opinion, and I will go against him at times. This is one where I totally agree. David Johnson is definitely primed for a much better year.
Joseph Robert
I want to reinforce that. Carlos Hyde, over 1,000 rushing yards, over 240 attempts and six touchdowns on the ground, and Carlos Hyde sucks. So David Johnson, I mean, they traded away DeAndre Hopkins to pretty much get David Johnson.
Tim:
Yeah.
Joseph Robert:
And he’s got a chip on his shoulder, he was rejected from the team he thought he was going to be a workhorse on, and now everybody cutting him up, slicing him up saying, “Oh, Hopkins is so much better than you.” And technically, he kind of is lately. So yeah, he’s going to prove that he is a top-five running back and I think this is the year. And he is, right now, Tim, the fourth round is his ADP right now. He’s going in the fourth round. Can you believe this?
Tim:
Yeah. I mean, I would call that a little bit of a steal, but I understand why people are hesitant, too. He does seem to have lost a step, but guys, when you look at the situation he’s in now, it’s going to get better. I think his numbers can easily double.
Joseph Robert
Yeah. All right, so let’s move on to another bounce back. Do you want to go with one or I’ll go with one?
Tim:
Let’s hear one of yours right now then.
Joseph Robert:
All right. So I’ve got Stefon Diggs. Now Stefon Diggs was 24th last year amongst wide receivers. His attempts were low and I think he was … He’s a guy that demands the ball. I don’t know if there’s a chemistry issue with him and the quarterback. The quarterback was [inaudible 00:05:28] Cousins. I don’t know if there was a coaching thing, but he wasn’t getting the ball and he was happily traded. He’s on the Buffalo Bills. Now back in 2018, he finished 10th amongst wide receivers. He had a ton of targets. He had 150 targets I think from nine touchdowns. So he declined last year, so he’s definitely set to bounce back on the Bills. Now I will make a disclaimer, they do have Cole Beasley there, they do have Brown there, they have Singletary there to catch the ball on the backfield, so there are some targets there, but I think he’s the primary one there in Buffalo now. Clear cut. So I’m looking for a nice bounce back from at least 24th finish last year.
Tim:
Yeah. I would agree that he is the wide receiver one on that team. I still don’t know if they can put it all together. I don’t know if Josh Allen has enough arm if there’s going to be enough targets coming his way. So yeah, I would say he’s going to improve on his numbers, but man, we still just really don’t know if Dan … I was going to say, Daniel Jones. We just don’t know if Josh Allen has what it takes to get it done this year as well. It might be another kind of learning year for him. So I’m a little hesitant to put him at a high draft position, but yes, bounce back, wide receiver one on the team, quarterback who can kind of make things happen. It’s all there. It just has to come together.
Joseph Robert
All right. You go one. Let’s see one you got there.
Tim:
All right. Unfortunately, my next two are on the same team, but there’s a good reason why. So let’s start with James Conner. I mean, just, Big Ben is supposed to come back this year and you can say, “Well, one guy doesn’t make the team.” The team is entirely different when Ben is the man. When he’s the quarterback, when he’s the boss of the field, everything is different. I say that James Conner is definitely looking at a bounce-back year here.
Joseph Robert
Yeah. I mean, the issue again with him is the injuries, right? The quarterback does play a big factor in that, but then again, he’s contending with injuries. He had a good season 2018, finished sixth, so if he’s finishing top 10, finishing sixth, we definitely see the ceiling there, but hasn’t finished a season. Again, I debate this with a lot of my guys when I talk about Dalvin Cook and other guys. I need these guys to finish a season. And they also acquired McFarland there at running back. Now I don’t know if he’s going to be a plug and play, but there is rumors from some Steelers pages that I follow that McFarland could be a huge factor. People want to compare them, but he’s not going to be Le’Veon Bell, but he could be, right? Because we have seen people in that offense perform really well, guys. Like DeAngelo Williams in the past, guys like Conner, Bell, they’ve all performed at a peak level. Maybe McFarland can come in if Conner gets hurt, but 10 games last year, that’s all he played. The year before, 13, the year before, 14.
So he doesn’t finish seasons. This is my concern with him. It’s hard to trust him. I read something again, I think people are saying, “Don’t count me out.” He knows people have kind of given up on him, and I think he’s got that drive. He’s a cancer survivor. I think he fought some sort of cancer. I don’t know what type of cancer it was, but good on him, man, if he wants to fight. But for fantasy for me, I’m having a hard time trusting him to start him every single week.
Tim:
And I can understand that. The big thing with him is he should not be a really high draft pick. I mean, let’s face it. This guy should not be a number one or two this year as far as draft rounds, but he’s got the potential there. Yeah, as you say, you look back at 2018 numbers when Big Ben was throwing and AB was still there, there are a lot of different things that happened to the team, but I still think that there’s just … The potential is there. He’s going to have to fight, he’s going to have some other guys breathing down his neck, but I still think he’s going to be the man and I think his numbers are just going to get better. I don’t think he’s going to be an astronomical running back this year, I don’t think he’s going to be a top three, top five, but he’s definitely primed for a bounce back and he’s going to put up some good numbers. So if you can get him at the draft place, he’s good.
Joseph Robert
Right. I got a guy here, we were debating about this a little, so let’s debate on the show, but I think Calvin Ridley. Now he never really boomed and crushed it, okay? So he’s been in the league for a couple of years, I think he’s going into his third year. Now his first year, he had 10 touchdowns, which is really good, and Austin Hooper was a prime target for Matt Ryan, okay? And then they had some weapons they were lacking. I don’t think Freeman was the solution. They’ve got Gurley, I think that’s going to help things out, but if you look at Calvin Ridley, he finished 22nd, Tim, with 10 touchdowns, 821 yards, 92 targets, and around 64 receptions. That was back in 2018. He had a bit of a decline in 2019. His touchdowns went down. So again, this goes into, like, is it going to be a bounce back? Finishing 27th. So he’s dropped a few spots down. Was he ever really high to begin with? Not really, but he had seven touchdowns. I think he can bounce back to 10 and his ceiling’s even higher this year. So a little bit of a bounce-back here for Calvin Ridley. Do you kind of disagree with this? Is he a bounce back? He has to be up top first, right?
Tim:
Yeah, yeah. I don’t really consider him to be a bounce back. I think the two years aren’t enough to kind of gauge where his ceiling is and what he can do. Let’s face it. He’s behind Julio Jones, and yes, last year there were times when these guys kind of trade off, “Hey, this week you can be the number one guy. I’m going to be number two.” That happened quite a few times last year, but no matter what, Julio was still the go-to guy there I believe. And Julio, he started off pretty hot last year as far as him getting touchdowns. Normally, I think you look at 2018 and Julio didn’t get his first touchdown until week eight or nine or something, so there’s still a lot more room for Julio to get those touchdowns, too, and that’s what kind of bothers me with saying, “Eh, Calvin Ridley’s primed for a bounce back.” I think he deserves to be right where he’s at. To me, if you can get him as a wide receiver two at a really good value, he’s going to put you up some wide receiver one, wide receiver two type numbers.
Joseph Robert
Yeah. While we’re still on this, Matt Ryan is my other guy for a bounce-back season. I love him. I mean, he finished second amongst quarterbacks in 2018, dropped down to 11th, and I think again that whole offense was bad. I think now they’ve got some pieces there in the O Line, I think they got a center. Was it … I can’t remember his name. Hennessy, I think it is. Maybe I could be wrong here. But yeah, I think Matt Hennessy is the guy’s name, and they’ve got Todd Gurley there. This is the year I genuinely believe in my heart of hearts, I think the Falcons could make a Superbowl run. I think they’ve got the offense, they’ve got the tools. I like them, man. I like the Falcons, and I think this is a bounce back year. Yeah, Matt Hennessy in the third round is the guy, he’s a center. So they made a little bit of improvement on that O Line there. Nothing too drastic, but it could help Matt Ryan a little bit more. And he’s getting older, he wants to win a Superbowl, so from 11th, he’s definitely going to bounce back. Potentially in the top five. And he’s going, you could draft this guy round seven to nine ADP. It’s crazy the amount of value. And he’s got two ace receivers, a ton of targets. They’ve got Hearst there as well. It could be a good offense, man. I’m excited. I’m excited about this offense.
Tim:
Yeah. I like Matt Ryan a lot. I love this team. Like you say the offense. He’s got some wide receivers there. He’s got some go-to guys and he can put up the big numbers as a quarterback, so I really like that as well. Now as I was thinking of this list, I’m trying to think, “Oh, I want to put a quarterback in there.” There wasn’t anybody that I could really justify and say, “Ah, I think this quarterback’s going to have a bounce back year.” Yeah, going to 11th place for a guy like Matt Ryan, okay, so if he jumps up to an eighth-place, a seventh-place finish, is that a bounce back? Whatever. Maybe he improved by 20, 30 points. To me, that’s not [inaudible 00:12:48] of what I like to classify … I’m a real picky prick when it comes to this stuff, you know?
Tim:
We talk about it all the time. My idea of a sleeper, my idea of this. I’m really choosy on how I pick these players and what I classify them as, so-
Joseph Robert
You should be choosy on your grooming options there. Your goatee’s getting a little long there.
Tim:
Yeah, I know. Well, you know what? We’re in quarantine, man. Who cares? Who do I get to impress? I don’t care right now.
Joseph Robert
I had to fade my own hair, so it was crazy.
Tim:
Yeah. I mean, you basically chopped yours down to the wood so that you could look all right.
Joseph Robert
All right, man. Big Ben. So I would think he’s a bounce back, but you’re going to say no because he was injured.
Tim:
No. Yeah, exactly. He was injured. No. There’s no justification of a bounce back. He’s just back.
Joseph Robert
He was down and technically he’s bouncing back, but I know what you mean.
Tim:
Yeah, yeah.
Joseph Robert
All right. Any other bounce backs?
Tim:
Well, hey man, you mentioned Big Ben. Let’s go to my third guy, who would be JuJu, and by all accounts, he underperformed. Yes, he missed a few games as well, so you can go back to my thing of saying, “Well, injuries don’t count.” But if I can extrapolate their numbers, even if you give him the full season, he was down, man. He was going to be down bad. So the addition, bringing Big Ben back, and I was on the JuJu train last year.
Joseph Robert
So was I.
Tim:
I thought you know what? With what we saw in 2018, he could make those challenging catches, he could fight for the ball, it just didn’t happen. And I think a lot of that was just that he didn’t have the quarterback he needed throwing to him, so definitely, definitely prime for a big bounce back.
Joseph Robert
I mean, you compare the targets. He had 71 targets, and then the year before I think he had about 166 with Big Ben. So yeah, obviously Big Ben was playing a big factor not being there in regards to production. Now here’s a sleeper for you guys. This is why you got to listen to the podcast. I don’t think anyone’s talking about him unless you’re right die-hard into the Steelers. But Chase Claypool looks like great talent. A big-bodied receiver can run routes, can also go deep with the ball, and make some really unique catches. I’ve been watching tape on him. And he could come in and basically take that two spot almost certainly with Diontae Johnson, and I think JuJu’s more of a slot guy, so I can imagine Claypool and Johnson on the outside and then you’ve got JuJu in the slot. Anything could happen. It could be a very unique offense this year.
So Chase Claypool’s a guy to keep your eye on. But yeah, definitely JuJu, a must bounce-back year for him. And again, I listen to all these Steelers pages, there is buzz, “Is Chase Claypool coming in to be the wide receiver one?” Is he that good? We don’t know. He’s a rookie. But the Steelers draft good receivers, they’ve got a history of drafting good receivers, so I’m excited to see what Claypool can do. You can get him for literally nothing in your draft. And I talk about that, guys, where? Tim? In the 16 Round Draft Solution. I’ll tell you where to get them.

That’s it for me, man. I think we talked about Evan Engram at the beginning of the show. He was injured for half the year, but as far as tight ends go, definitely look at him. Like I said, I’m really picky with how I classify players. So for bounce backs, these were the only three guys that really stuck out to me that I would say, “Yes, they bounce back guys.” I wanted to say Leonard Fournette, but, man, he still finished, what, seventh last year, so you can’t really call him a bounce back. But I think he’s in a prime position, too, and he can really put up some big numbers this year. So not what I would classify as a bounce back, but definitely ready for an improvement.
Joseph Robert
I’m going to give you a bounce back that’s going to shock the world. Yes. This is going to shock the world. You may be like, “Am I listening to the same podcast? There’s got to be something wrong with my headphones or my speakers,” or whatever. But a bounce back … And you know, it’s funny how shallow this fantasy football industry is because all these guys that were great, now they’re sleepers. Nobody cares about them, right, so their ADP has dropped, which is great value because they’re all great talent. Except for this guy. I don’t think he’s great talent, but I do think he bounces back. The guy I’m talking about, yes, Tim, you’re hearing me correctly. The guy is drum roll, Odell Beckham, Jr.
Tim:
Did you say OBJ in a positive way? What?
Joseph Robert
Could be a bounce back. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He finished 25th last season. He can only bounce back to at least the 15th spot. At least he could finish top 15. If, you know, they improved the O Line, so now he can’t blame it on Baker, he’s going to have time to throw. I think he’s going to have a better season than he did last year if he stays healthy. All right. That’s all I’m saying.
Tim:
I was going to say, here come the “ifs”. Here comes the ifs and the but with OBJ. The problem is, right now, yeah, I was on the Cleveland train last year, too. I thought Baker had what it took. Like, you look at his numbers in college, man, and he was a very reliable quarterback. It sure as hell didn’t play out last year. He’s got a lot of good weapons around him, he’s got even better weapons this year, so I don’t know, man. If he can’t get it done this year, then there is a big problem. So OBJ to me is still a little bit of a risk as taking him as a high draft pick, but he is definitely … He’s a talent, man. There’s no doubt about it. I’ve never really agreed with you on him. He’s a talent. He’s going to put up some good numbers, but yeah, you’ve got to watch where you pick him up.
Joseph Robert
I’m not drafting him. He’s currently sitting ninth on the Consheepsus ranking, so he’s coming off, what, like, second, third round?
Tim:
And that might be okay for him, if you go with a stud wide receiver first, then picking him up as your wide receiver two? I’m okay with that.
Joseph Robert
Yeah. Leave a comment below, guys. Is Odell going to bounce back? I’m not sold on him, but he can only do better than 25 if he is as advertised for the past four years, the mainstream told you to draft him in the first round four days in a row. He busted four years in a row. I’m not drafting him, but he could bounce back a little bit. And I want to say bounce back because he’s been to the top. That was, like, three years ago, so he has that room to bounce back.
Tim:
A lot of it depends on Baker, man. He has to show us that he’s that quarterback we think he can be.
Joseph Robert
Any other guys, Tim? And you guys, leave a comment below for any of these guys, do you think, are they going to bounce back? What are your thoughts? They’re considers sleepers as well. Any other guys, Tim?
Tim:
No, man. That’s it for me. Like I say, my definition is extremely picky, my criteria is very picky when it comes to calling a guy a bounce back.
Joseph Robert
Dude, I could rapid-fire here, but you’re not going to say, you know, “It’s a bounce back.”
Tim:
Yeah. I’m going to disagree with you on all of them. I’m going to say, “Why?”
Joseph Robert:
TY Hilton, finished 57th last year amongst wide receivers, but he only played 10 games. Again, he didn’t play the full season.
Tim:
Yeah, I mean, you can extrapolate his numbers over and see where he would have finished if he finished the full year. That’s not a true gauge either, but it helps.
Joseph Robert:
Yeah. Again, I could sit here all day and just give you bounce back.
Tim:
Yeah. What you consider a bounce back.
Joseph Robert:
All right. So here’s one for you. Le’Veon Bell, finished 16th amongst running backs and he could bounce back. Could he bounce back into the 10th? Top 10?
Tim:
He’s still on a lousy team though, man.
Joseph Robert
I know. I know.
Tim:
That’s the problem there. So I’m looking at TY’s numbers right here. Like you say, so, 10 games, 500 yards, five touchdowns. Hey, that’s a great number of touchdowns for that. But you take those 10 games and turn them into 16 and those numbers still aren’t really impressive.
Joseph Robert
Right. Well, there you have it, guys. There’s our bounce backs, AKA, sleepers. I mean, whatever you want to call them, but these guys are in a position to really bounce back.
Tim:
Yeah.
Joseph Robert:
Anything else, Tim, you want to … Any other sleepers, anything else you want to mention? Any side notes?
Tim:
Nothing, man. I mean, you’re saying, yeah, the 16 Rounds, and I don’t want to beat a dead horse. Yeah. 16 Rounds. It’s here, it’s time to start thinking of your drafts. Time to start looking at the guys. You get these lists, you get the video training course early, and you start looking at some of these guys that your buddies might be sleeping on.
Joseph Robert:
Yeah. I mean, some of these guys I mentioned in 16 Rounds, people may have not heard of. The casual listener hasn’t. The Joshua Kellys, the Michael Pittmans of the world, some of these later guys that you can get. The Chase Claypool’s. Nobody’s really talking about that, and when you are looking at these lists, you’re just looking at kind of the top 10, 20 players, you don’t really know who these other guys are and you don’t know where to get them. That’s why 16 Rounds is so good because I tell you when to get these guys, I tell you if they’re really high [inaudible 00:20:58], I tell you if they’re talented, I tell you that there’s an opportunity for them to succeed, so all that information is there and available to you guys on a silver platter in The 16 Round Draft Solution, linked below.
