🏆 Top 5 Fantasy Football Running Backs for 2025 (Pre-Draft)
⚠️ This is an open conversation, not just a list. We’re going deep on potential, opportunity, and situations — not just what the “sheep” rankings say.
RB1: Bijan Robinson – Atlanta Falcons
Why Bijan?
Ultra-durable. Game-changing. Explosive. Bijan Robinson is the full package, and he’s finally being used like a true workhorse. We’re talking:
304 attempts
Over 1,400 rushing yards
14 touchdowns
💡 No committee here. Tyler Allgeier is not a threat. Expect Bijan to dominate again in 2025. He is the safest and most complete back in 2025 fantasy football. Druable and no competition is a must draft when looking at the running back position. He has to be the first RB off the board.
RB2: Saquon Barkley – Philadelphia Eagles
Yes, he’s on a new team, but Squan is still Squan.
High volume runner
Goal-line machine
Dual threat in the passing game
🎯 Caution: Super Bowl hangover and some minor regression is possible. But if he stays healthy, he’s still top-5 material. I definelty see a decline in 2025. The big question is, how big of a decline?
RB3: Ashton Jeanty – 2025 NFL Draft Prospect
Calling it now: Ashton Jeanty is going to be the RB1 wherever he lands.
2,600 rushing yards in 2024
29 touchdowns
374 attempts
🔥 The man’s a beast. If a team gives him the volume, Jeanty has league-winning upside.
⛔ “Committee-backfield” beware — but if Jeanty lands with the Broncos, Bears, or Raiders? Watch out. There is rumour that he may end up on the Jets. This would be the worst possible landing spot, as the coach has stated they want to run a committee and they already have Breece Hall.
RB4: Jahmyr Gibbs – Detroit Lions
Here’s where it gets wild.
Did you know? In Weeks 16–18 (no David Montgomery), Gibbs went OFF:
64 carries
365 yards
5 touchdowns
98 total fantasy points over 3 games
🧠 Compare that to 58 points in the 3 games with Montgomery.
Bottom line: Gibbs is easily RB1 material if Montgomery is sidelined again. Gibbs eats either way.
💥 Coaches need to unleash the beast — every touch from Montgomery is stealing explosive plays from Gibbs. Period.
RB5: Kyren Williams – Los Angeles Rams
Sleeper? Nope. Stud.
316 attempts (3rd most in the NFL)
1,299 rushing yards
14 touchdowns
Yet somehow, he’s being ranked 13th by consensus. Madness.
✅ Why Kyren should be top-5:
Rams offense is only getting better
Just added Davante Adams to stretch the field
No real threat behind him (Corum isn’t it)
🔒 He’s in a contract year — motivated + opportunity = fantasy gold.
Honorable Mentions & Deep Thoughts
Omari and Hampton (Draft Prospect)
Currently sitting at RB31 on consensus rankings but has real workhorse potential. Watch his draft landing spot closely — he could crack the top 10 RBs in the right offense.
Other Names to Watch
De’Von Achane – Explosive but could be in a committee again
Josh Jacobs – Unsure usage in 2025
Jonathan Taylor – Bounce back possible, but still a question mark
