TOP 5 Fantasy Football RBs 2023
- Bijan Robinson
- Jonathan Taylor
- Najee Harris
- Derrick Henry
- Breece Hall
These running backs are primed for a massive fantasy football season in 2023. Let’s dive into detail on why you should be drafting them this season.
1. Bijan Robinson
Drafted in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft with the 8th overall Pick, Bijan Robinson is my first overall pick in fantasy this season.
The Talent, youth, and upside are there for the man, and I will love the potential volume he is set to get. When you are in the first round, you have other RB options, but the hunger and upside here with Bijan are appealing and exciting.
The Falcons didn’t invest a top 8 pick on an RB to sit him on the bench. While there is a risk with drafting an RB in with your first overall pick, you have to see that he is on top of the depth chart and the future is bright. With great college stats in his 2022 season, 258 attempts, and 1580 yards on the ground, look for him to have similar success in the NFL.
Sign me up for Bijan Robinson as the 1.01 this season, ahead of the older Ekeler and Christian McCaffrey picks everyone else is telling you to draft. Ekeler is not a true workhorse, and CMC is due for another injury coming off a pinnacle year.
2. Jonathan Taylor
Taylor is entering a contract year and coming off a down year. He is due for a big bounce-back year, and the upside is there yet again.
While everyone told you to draft him last year as the top RB, I told you to avoid him because he was due for a decline. The decline turned out to be far worse than anyone expected. With only 192 attempts, 861 yards, and 4 TDs, it wasn’t very pleasant.
Look for a big bounce-back from the young and talented Jonathan Taylor in the 2023 NFL season. He has to perform if he wants to get a big contact. It is a make-or-break season for him.
3. Najee Harris
Najee Harris is primed to have himself a great season in 2023. The Steelers drafted an OT in Broderick Jones with their first overall pick. This give their o-line a nice boost and helps both Kenny Pickett and Najee Harris.
Harris is in his 3rd season and is working towards building himself up for a contract, and he must show his work. He finished top 3 in fantasy points in his rookie year and had a significant fall-off in 2022. Najee finished 14th last year among RBs in PPR and only averaged 3.8 yards per carry and had 7 TDs.
Look for the Steelers, Kenny Pickett, and Najee Harris to take a big step up this 2023 season. Najee is coming off in the 2nd round in fantasy drafts this season, which is great value for a true RB one.
4. Derrick Henry
The King has to be in the top 5 list. I am actually not feeling as warm and fuzzy about Henry as I did last year. I still know that he will be a workhorse this upcoming season, but wondering how many good years he has left in him.
There are changes in this offense, including the possible new starting QB in Will Levis and the Titans dating Tyjae Spears at RB. Henry may just have one or two good years left, but it would be a shame to draft him in the first round with the chance that this could be his decline year.
I prefer drafting Jonathan Taylor and or Bijan Robinson in Round 1, but if all the RBs are gone at the end of Round one, then Henry is a strong consideration. He produced on a high level and gets the volume consistently.
5. Breece Hall
Breece the Beast is going to dominate this year if he stays healthy. Breece only played 7 Games last year, had 80 attempts, and averaged 5.8 yards per carry. He was looking perfect before his injury.
He is young and talented and has an upgrade at QB with Aaron Rodgers. The GM says that Breece looks amazing and is ready to go, but we will have to see how much volume he gets and how this all looks on the field in 2023.
If you want to draft Breece, ensure he is your RB 2 in the 2nd round as part of a robust RB draft strategy.
