We do a deep dive on this podcast on all these players and why they could bust this season. They are big names but have a ton of red flags going into the NFL fantasy Season.
Below is a better explanation of why these players should be avoided in NFL fantasy drafts in 2023, especially the very expensive Austin Ekeler and Christian McCaffrey.
For all the optimal players to draft in each round, grab the 16 Rounds Draft solution and use code “SMASH” to save now! This is the game changer and will put you light years ahead of the consheepsus.
1. Christian McCaffrey
CMC will bust this 2023 season, and yes, I am calling injury. You can predict and anticipate injuries based on history and usage. Christian McCaffrey had his last hooray in 2022, and 2023 you will see a decline.
This guy has no business being a top pick in fantasy football 2023, and his time has passed. The 49ers are a team that has been injury-ridden for years and that will continue. Just remember that CMC only played three games in 2020 and 7 games in 2021. He is injury prone.
Aside from the possible injury, Elijah Mitchell only played five games last year and should be integrated more, taking away volume from CMC. Either way, McCaffrey is way too expensive to draft this season. I am staying far away from him.
2. Austin Ekeler
Mr. Pinnicle year last year and 100% for sure decline coming. Austin had 127 targets and 107 receptions. These are top 20 WR numbers, and he is an RB. With the change at OC, He will see fewer check-downs this season. Joe Lombardi is gone now, which is why he saw so much volume last year.
Look for Justin Herbert to throw the ball more and get it to Quentin Johnston downfield. There will NEVER be a world where I draft Austin Ekeler as my RB in fantasy football, not even to mention second overall. No way! Decline coming.
Do not draft Austin Ekeler, as he is not an actual workhorse RB.
3. Davante Adams
Not much to discuss here other than he is getting a significant downgrade at QB, and he is expensive in drafts. Going into his 10th season, Adams is not a young WR, and I don’t expect a top performance out of him this season.
I am fading him, as he is coming off two major seasons where he benefited from injuries to the WR corp and got all the volume. This year, things will change as Jimmy G is not a high-volume passer, and there is no way Adams will see 180 targets again in his life.
This is a pass for me for a potentially permanent decline as he has lost his ace WR in Rodgers, and Carr won’t be there to spoon-feed him.
4. Lamar Jackson
Another big-time bust is the upcoming here for a guy who can’t throw over 3000 yards to save his life and can’t finish the season. Lamar Jackson only played 12 games each of the last 2 NFL seasons. I don’t trust him at all, and I don’t care how good his WR core is.
He is currently coming off in rounds 4-5 in a 12-person 1 QB league, and I won’t be spending that price on him. There is safer and better QBs, you can target. Jackson is not safe!
5. Travie Etienne
What a bust Travis Etienne has been over the past two years. With all the opportunity last year to shine, he still sucked. He was putting up two games with only 3.2 points ppr and having one game where he scored 0.3 fantasy points. The guy is embarrassing, dropping passes and fumbling.
The consheepsus have this guy coming off in rounds 2-3, which is way too expensive for a guy that really sucks. You won’t see Travis Etienne ever on my fantasy football teams. No way, and I drafting a bust.
Also, you must note that the Jags invested a 3rd round pick on Tank Bigsby. Tank will eat and get all the goal-line work.
6. JK Dobbins
Talk about a big-time bust already, and that will continue. Dobbins absolutely sucks and has no business being in the NFL. His rookie season was mediocre at best. He didn’t play his second year with a knee injury and only played eight games in 2022.
Add on to the fact that his QB is putting up top 10 RB numbers; you have a recipe for disaster. Dobbins has had years to wow me, and I am not wowed. Do not under any circumstance draft this fantasy football bust.
7. DJ Moore
Years to wow me, and guess what? I am not wowed again with this player. DJ is as average as you can get at the WR position. Then you have a basic and average QB throwing him the ball in Justin Fields.
Last year Field’s top WR was Chase Claypool, who peaked at a whopping 79 targets. This is a sign that you should temper your expectations that DJ Moore will be a boom-type WR. He is currently ranked 20th on the consensus rankings, and that is way too high for this guy. Sitting ahead of guys like Diontae Johnson and Calvin Ridley is ludicrous. Do not draft this guy; he is a big-time bust, and has busted many years ago!
8. Miles Sanders
Off to Carolina to share a backfield with Chubba Hubbard does not sound exciting. You factor in the fact that Miles Sanders sucks, and they have a Rookie QB.
Miles Sanders is coming off in round 4. No, thank you, he sucks, and he has no business being in the NFL, and more importantly on my precious fantasy football team.
9. D’Andre Swift
What did I tell you last year? I said do not draft Swift cause he sucks. Everyone told you to draft him at the end of round one or early round two. He was ranked 8th among RBs in PPR. What a waste of a pick that would have been too many listening to the consheepsus.
I would never, ever have this guy on my team. He can’t finish a season to save his life, like many others on this list. Do not draft this big-time fantasy football bust! Ever!
10. Keenan Allen
He is old and injury prone. He sucks. The Chargers draft Quentin Johnston in round 1. End of discussion.
