3 Rookie running backs to target in 2020. The Counselor’s hand picks these rookie RB’s that are in a great position to succeed in 2020.
3 Fantasy Football Rookie RB’s to draft in 2020
- Cam Akers
- Jonathan Taylor
- Clyde Edwards-Helaire
I love the upside of these three running backs and they are in a great position to succeed. The talent and the opportunity for Cam Akers, Jonathan Taylor, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire is there and they will thrive if given the volume. I deep dive into each and everyone and tell you why I like them so much for fantasy football 2020. More information and details on my picks 16 Rounds draft solution.
Cam Akers
The first person that I like when it comes to rookie running backs is Cam Akers. The upside with Cam with the Rams is massive with Gurley not being there.
Cam Akers is 5″11 and 215 lbs and fits the typical workhorse RB build. I love the upside and where he landed. I don’t see Darrell Henderson taking this job and leading the Rams backfield. If Henderson was the guy then the Rams would not have invested a 2nd round NFL draft pick on Cam. The would have just stuck it out with Henderson.
Last year Todd Gurley had 223 attempts and he didn’t really get going until later in the season. I feel the Rams will use Akers to his full potential and will not let up on his use. Cam has home-run speed and can be used as a pass-catcher as well. As long as he gets the volume and touches he can have a significant fantasy football 2020 impact and should be drafted. We have to see what his ADP is and the reports we will be hearing from camp. I love this upside and this talent.
Jonathan Taylor
A full and true workhorse out of college, this man can get it done on the field. He is a 2000 a year rusher in college. In 2019 he had 320 rushing attempts, 21 TD’s on the ground, and averaged 6.3 YPC. I love Jonathan Taylor for fantasy football 2020.
He winds up on the Colts for 2020 and I love this. Marlon Mack has always been a boring average RB. If the Colts believed in Mack they would not have drafted Taylor. Marlon Mack had 247 attempts last season and always struggled with injuries never finishing a season. This year the volume must go to Taylor if the Colts want to win this year. I absolutely love this pick for the Colts and hope he shines in 2020.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire
The 3rd Rookie Running Back I love is Clyde Edwards-Helaire. He ends up one team that lacks a solid and reliable RB, the Chiefs secure him in the first round of the NFL draft 2020.
There is no denying the physical attributes in Clyde Edwards. There is so much upside here on this high octane offense. He is compact and has a low center of gravity and amazing vision when he runs. He is very quick and agile and can catch the ball really well out of the backfield. He will have to contend with Damien Williams, but Williams is a horrible RB that can’t run up the middle and was a back up in Miami for over 3 years. Again, another situation where the coaches see that Williams is not the solution and they need a young talented running back. Clyde Edwards could be the Kareem Hunt from a few years ago. There is serious top 10 potential here, but be cautious of the committee. If the Chiefs make him the workhorse he will be a fantasy football monster.
