The NFL community is mourning the sudden loss of recently retired WR Demaryius Thomas. This is something I have to address as I was a big fan of Thomas and appreciated his work on the field.
Demaryius Thomas was only 33 years old and just retired from the NFL. From what we are hearing is that he passed away suddenly and the cause of the death is a seizure. I am not a doctor but can tell you that this is very strange that a healthy 33 years all suddenly dies in the shower. I am hoping that eventually, we find the true cause of the seizure. This is so that we can help prevent this from happening to other young individuals.
Demaryius was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the 1st round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He was the first WR off the board that year and was 22nd overall. He was primed for a great career and that is exactly what he achieved.
Thomas played the NFL from 2010 to 2019. He was on three different teams which included the Broncos, Texans, and Jets. He won a Super Bowl with legend Peyton Manning. Thomas’ pinnacle year in fantasy was in 2014 where he amassed 340 PPR fantasy points with 11 Touchdowns and 1619 Receiving yards. I liked him a lot because he was one of the first players that I drafted when I got into fantasy and he seemed like a humble guy. He put in the work and wasn’t a diva at all. He really left his legacy on the field.
This news comes as a great shock as sudden deaths always do. I really would have liked to see what his life would have looked like in retirement.
