1. Carson Wentz
A new opportunity is what this is all about, along with the young talent and a chip on his shoulder. Carson Wentz was benched for Jalen Hurts, so you have to imagine that he is fired up to succeed this season and have a better campaign than he did back in 2017. He is now on a better team with a better online with a better running back in Jonathan Taylor. Not to mention that he has teamed up with a former coach Frank Reich. All of these elements are a recipe for success of Carson Wentz in Indianapolis.
2. Cam Akers
This is the man that can easily be a worth horse in LA with the Rams. He was drafted in the 2nd round by the Rams to be the workhorse and that is what he was becoming at the end of the 2020 season. The future is bright for reality and fantasy football 2021. The mainstream sheep are sleeping on him and currently, have him ranked 18th on the consensus rankings amongst running backs. Cam Akers attempts and production really started to increase after week 13 and he became the man in LA, averaging 4.3 yards per carry on the season. Note in week 13 Akers had 21 rush attempts and 29 in week 14. I am excited about the upside and the value in the draft for Cam this season. Could be the steal of the draft.
3. Julio Jones
Wow, how the tables have turned. Julio Jones had a bad 2020 season which only included 9 games due to his lingering hamstring injury. Prior to that Julio had finished in the top 10 in fantasy points for over 5 years in a row. The Falcons had a bad season overall in 2020 and that should change for the better in 2021. Julio is currently ranked 12 in PPR amongst WR’s and behind Calvin Ridley who is ranked 7th. This is bias based on last year’s stats. People are sleeping on arguably the best WR in the game. He is still only 32 years of age and has a lot of juice left in the tank. I will aim to get him for the best value this season.
4. David Montgomery
Not the most popular player and flashy guy, but David Montgomery produced on a high-level last year in fantasy. He finished 4th in fantasy points and had 247 rushing attempts. The injury to his backup Cohen really helped him become the workhorse. He has his spot locked as the full workhorse running back even if Cohen comes back into the lineup.
5. Adam Thielen
I have a Thielen that Adam will do better than last year! Now I am a Justin Jefferson fan and the only one in the industry to suggest you draft him in the 7th round last year. Jefferson tore it up and did much better than the mainstream anticipated. Now Jefferson’s value is going through the roof and you will have to pay a lot to get him on your roster. The same can’t be said about Adam Thielen, who you can steal in drafts this year. Technically Adam is still the WR one and is being treated like he hadn’t done anything his entire career. Thielen actually finished 7th amongst WR’s back in 2019 and the talent is still there. He is a guy people will be sleeping on while they are investing in Jefferson early on.
6. Tee Higgins
I had him stashed on all my benches last season and suggested that all 16 Rounders do as well. Tee Higgins had a decent rookie campaign with 908 Rec yards and 6 TDs. He did this with Burrow being out and injured most of the season. I like the upside of Tee and he looks to be the future of the Bengals receiving core. I would hope that the Bengals make some improvements on the o-line and get a better RB than Mixon to take the pressure off Higgins and create a better opportunity for him to thrive.
7. Robby Anderson
While the entire industry slept on Anderson last season, I drafted him everywhere I could. He ended up finishing 19th in fantasy points amongst WR’s. This 2021 fantasy football season, I can see that he is being slept on again being ranked 35th on the sheep list. If he gets an upgrade at QB, which I think he will, I see bigger numbers from the young and quick Robby Anderson. Great value and a big sleeper yet again this season.
8. Diontae Johnson
Another great situation for fantasy football. Diontae Johnson was the #1 targeted WR on the Steelers last season. (144 targets) He is an absolute beast and has Big Ben throwing him the ball. If JuJu gets shipped off, things can get even better for Johnson in Pittsburgh. I like the upside and the situation for him this season. You can make an argument that Claypool will eat more as well, but there is a ton of target to go around and Diontae will eat this season and he will fest in fantasy points. Johnson had some issues with dropped passes but that is behind him now as he looked polished at the end of 2020. I will be sure to have him on my roster in 2021 and draft him anywhere I can.
9. James Robinson
1070 yards and 7 Rushing TDs in his first season while finishing #7 amongst RB’s in fantasy points. James Robinson put up some solid numbers and proved he can be a workhorse RB. He did this on one of the worst offenses in the NFL. I expect nothing but improvement from last year from this undrafted free agent. He played with a chip on his shoulder and proved he could not only fill the void of Leonard Fournette but fully embrace and take it over. At the time of this article, James is sitting 20th amongst the consensus rankings in the RB category and that is an insult for this young stud. I know Jacksonville is not a pretty team, but you can’t deny the talent. Look for him to be of great value in your draft this upcoming season.
10. Matt Ryan
Note before I describe why Matt Ryan is a sleeper, you need to understand that Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley are both ranked in the top 10 in standard and top 12 in PPR on the consensus rankings. This tells me that a lot of people believe that the receivers will do well in Atlanta. Then why is Ryan ranked 14th among the QB’s. It because the mainstream sheep are lost. Listen Julio will bounce back and Matt Ryan will have a better season than he did last year. He is getting older and I get it but he wants to end his career off with a positive note. If the Falcons draft a young QB. you can bet that it will light a fire under Matt Ryan. I think he will be a sleeper this 2021 fantasy football season. Look to target him as a backup with massive top 10 potential.
